Les registres de l'Anglican Cathedral Holy Trinity Church pour le 12 septembre 1809 font état de l'acte de sépulture suivant : 

«Shepheard buried 

John Shepheard, second mate of the Ship Dunlop, now lying in the port of Quebec, William Abrams Master, aged about thirty two years, died (in consequence of a fall, when going on board), September the ninth, and was buried September the twelfth, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine.
