Une autre façon de dater un acte

Les registres de la Barnston Methodist Church de Saint-François pour le 1^er janvier 1910 font état de l'acte de mariage suivant  : 

«Marriage.    Selby and Cleveland 

Orrie Amos Selby, farmer of the Township of Barnston, County of Stanstead and Province of Quebec, a bachelor, son of Harry Dalton Selby, Aevent Minister, and Jane Hunter, his wife, And Mary Elizabeth Cleveland, of the aforesaid Township of Barnston, a spinster, daughter of Homer Leslie Cleveland and Julia Ann Oliver his wife, were marriee by me by authority of License on the First day of January Anno Domini nineteen hundred and two in the presence of the subscribing witnesses.

Parties.    Orrie A. Selby

                Lizzie Cleveland

Witnesses    Byron F.  ?

                   Carrin B. Selby.

                               J. Holt Murray

                               Methodist Minister». 

Dans la marge, on peut lire l'annotation suivante sous la forme d'une estampille :

«JAN 1 1902».

Une façon particulière d'indiquer l'âge du défunt

Les registres de la Barnston Baptist Church dans le comté de Saint-François pour le 7 février 1907 font état de l'acte de sépulture suivant : 

«Burial 

This is to certify that John Humphrey aged 83-2-19 days died at Coventry. Vermont on the second day of February and was buried by me in Barnston cemetery on the seventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and seven

Witness    S B. Humphrey       CW Humphrey,        

J. Ernest. Miller Pastor».

Noter que le défunt est décédé dans l'état du Vermont, et l'utilisation de l'expression «This is to certify that...» au début du texte qui renforce l'impression qu'il s'agit davantage d'un certificat d'inhumation que d'un acte de sépulture.
