Les registres de l'Anglican Cathedral Holy Trinity Church de Québec pour le 21 avril 1827 font état de l'acte de sépulture suivant :

«Ellis Buried

Robert Ellis a Native of the United States of America, a Man of Colour, who was executed in Quebec on the twenty first of April, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven and was buried on the same day.
By me Geo Auhbold Ass. Min at Quebec
Presents John Rickaby Sexton Robt. Hines».

Certains pourraient se demander si le fait de mentionner la couleur de la peau du défunt dans l'acte est fortuite.
