Le marchand Peter Brehaut se noie à Québec en tombant de son quai

Les registres de l'Anglican Cathedral Holy Trinity Church de Québec pour le 5 mai 1817 font état de l'acte de sépulture suivant :

«Brehaut Buried

Peter Brehaut esqr. of the City of Quebec Merchant and Member of the Province Parliament of Lower Canada for the County of Quebec, aged fifty three years Coroner's Warrant who was accidentally drowned, by falling from his wharf, in the River St Lawrence, on the second day of May instant and was buried on the fifth day of the same Month, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen.

Ce marchand connut une carrière remarquable dans la ville de Québec et qui est décrite dans un article du Dictionnaire biographique du Canada. On y apprend notamment que ce quai était situé au pied du Cap Diamant.
