Un enfant nouveau né trouvé sur la voie ferrée

 

Les registres de la Bury Anglican Church pour le 27 février 1904 font état de l’acte de sépulture suivant :

«Unknown Infant Buried

A female infant, name of parents unknown, born within a few hours, was found ^ ^dead on the railway, in the Bury section, on the morning of the twenty fourth day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four, and was buried ^ ^{by Coroner’s warrant} on the twenty seventh day of the same month, in the year aforesaid, by me

Dans la marge, on peut lire l’annotation suivante :

«four words added good CBW».

Il est facile de s’imaginer l’état de la mère. Une interrogation : le sexe de l’enfant a-t-il joué un rôle dans cette situation dramatique ?
