On the fifth day of September one thousand eight
hundred and seventy one we the undersigned Priest of the Archibishop’s House,
Québec, certify that on the thirtieth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy one, we have supplied the ceremonies of Baptism to James Edward, born
on the thirteeth day of September of the preceding year, of the lawful marriage
of James Eastman, fisherman and of Mary Meagher, of New Port au-Choix, North Western
coast of New Foundland. Godfather James Meagher by his proxy William Lavas,
Godmother Mary Landwigan by his proxy Mary Landwigan, who could not sign, as
well of the mother of the child who was present. The father was absent.
